So many calcites, so little time!!
There are actually over 800 kinds of calcite that have been discovered and identified, so it is near impossible to know them all. I work with maybe a dozen or so on a regular basis. Some kinds of calcite are unique to the area where they are found; for example, Caribbean Calcite, found recently in Pakistan, is not found anywhere else in the world. This stone combines light blue calcite with light brown/white aragonite.
To keep it simple, calcite can be identified only by color; red calcite, orange calcite, etc. For a quick chakra balancing layout, use calcite in colors corresponding with the seven major chakras: red, orange, yellow, green, pink, blue. Red calcite is especially good for grounding and balancing the root chakra. Orange calcite will help calm the emotions and increase creativity. Yellow calcite can energize the solar plexus, offering vitality and assertion. Green calcite is associated with the subtle energy of the heart. Blue calcite is calming and cooling, and can balance the give and take energy of honest communication. I use pink calcite for the self-acceptance of the high heart chakra.
